Brief:

Work with the interdisciplinary team at Tyler Tech to create a user-centered layout and visual design for MEMA's weather and emergency preparedness app.

Project Goal:

Research & Ideation

The design process began with creating wireframes based on studying the layouts of similar apps. The Emergency: Severe Weather App by the American Red Cross gave us insights into functionality related to alerting users. For the visual design, we took inspiration from the American Airlines app.

Alerts Feature

One of the app's main goals is to provide users with personalized weather alters. This was achieved by allowing users to select which areas in the state they want to monitor and what weather alerts they wish to receive. The home screen displays all monitored locations and gives the user important information at a glance.

Visual Design

Because of the wide variety of users and having to fit in large amounts of content, I used color theory and basic simple iconography to help guide the user through the application.
